Susan (King) Collette

Susan (King) Collette was born on July 10th, 1957, in Houston, TX to Bill & Betty King and entered into her Lord’s Heavenly Kingdom on April 8th, 2026.

Susan was a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas and spent her formative years in the West End/Washington Avenue corridor. She graduated from Lamar High School and shortly after graduation, Susan met the love of her life, AC Collette while bowling, which quickly became one of their favorite pastimes. She worked for Cambe Geological Services for many years, where she held multiple positions, including Vice-President, up until her retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies who affectionately called her GiGi. She was always willing to pick up her grandbabies, even just to drive them home from school because it allotted her a few minutes in the car with them. They were her world. Susan enjoyed attending Ladies Prayer Group at Shiloh Baptist Church and loved when she was able to bring her grandbabies. She also loved her Starbucks, butterflies, hummingbirds, Houston Astros, watching game shows, cream soda, flowers, especially orchids, sweet tea (extra sweet), pineapple upside down cake, Girl Scout cookies, Bath & Body Works and anything pink or purple.

Susan truly loved her family, and they meant everything to her. She is survived by her sons, Alasendro “Little AC” Collette, Jr. and wife Katy, and Andy Collette and partner Taylor Nichols; brothers, Timothy King and wife Debbie, Billy King and wife Joanna and Bobby King and wife Bernadette; her grandbabies, Ellie, Mason, Mckenna, Luke and DJ; her Godson, Robert “Bob” King (Tiffany); and nieces and nephews, Vincent King and wife Katie, Joseph Gensheimer, Fabia Mendez and husband Nick. She also leaves behind many other loving friends and cousins, including her best friend, Barbara Robinson (Gary).

Susan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Alasendro “A.C.” Carl Collette, Sr.; her parents, Thomas W. “Bill” King, Sr. & Betty King; her brother, James Lee King and her beloved pup, Bentley.

Pallbearers will be A.C. Collette, Andy Collette, Billy King, Bobby King, Bob King and Vincent King. Honorary pallbearers will be Ellie, Mason, Mckenna, Luke and DJ.

Flower deliveries can be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Friday morning after 9 am.
