Sharon Owens Thames, 76, of Atascocita TX passed away on December 7, 2025.
She was born in Channelview TX on January 12, 1949 to Ted Wilson Owens and Lorene Gladys Peacock Owens. Sharon graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena TX and worked for many years as a secretary. She especially loved her last job as an administrative assistant for “The Tribune” in Humble TX where she was able to utilize her passion for the English language, helping to edit for that newspaper.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Sharlyn Grace Thames who lives in Bellevue NE, sister-in-law Janet Garey, brother-in-law Dwight Garey, nieces Kristin Fowler and Lauren Vazquez, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Karl Elliott Thames, her parents, and her older brother, Gary Ronald Owens.
As a child Sharon contracted polio, and playing the piano helped her overcome some of the limits the illness placed on her. Karl and Sharon lived and traveled the country extensively, serving in various ministries over the years and they shared a strong mutual faith in the Lord and love of music. Sharon passed away with the assurance that her hope was and is in God.
“Jesus said to the woman, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.’”
