Roy Wayne Laird, 67, was born on May 29, 1954 in Portland, Texas. He passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Kingwood, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Leo & Mamie Lee Laird and his brothers, Johnny Laird, Rodney Laird, and Walter White.

Wayne is survived by his spouse, Debbie Stewart of 44 years of marriage. Son Michael Wayne Laird and wife Nikki. Daughter Truly Rachelle Elrod and husband Joe. Brother Thomas Laird. Grandchildren Haley Paige Laird and Michael Ray Laird. As well as his pups, Chico, Cleo, Rocky, and Hoot.

Wayne and Debbie spent their younger years rocking out to songs by Eric Clapton while sporting the biggest bell bottoms around, though they settled down a bit when Michael came along, and then several years later when Truly arrived. Wayne spent much of his life working in shrimp boats and then moved into commercial maintenance to support his family. We are thankful he had some time to fish and enjoy retirement before he fell ill. Wayne was known for his love of all things Harley-Davidson, and he spent many years enjoying the open road on a bike. He also loved fishing, and recently bought a boat to use during his retirement.  When he wasn't on a bike or in a boat, he was probably watching football and rooting for the team that was winning that season - he was known and loved for being a bandwagon football fan. He was a wonderful father to Michael and Truly, and proud grandfather to Haley and Michael, making sure they were all properly spoiled.

Wayne knew our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and spoke with Him daily. While his family and friends will miss him dearly, there is a certain peace that comes from knowing he is no longer in pain, fully healed and having met Jesus. The family asks for your prayers for comfort during this difficult time and appreciates your love and support.

A private service will be held by the family.
