Ray Anthony Sustaita, 72, was born on March 1, 1954, in Houston, Texas, and passed away on March 20, 2026, in Galveston, Texas.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sustaita and Mary Guerra, and his brothers, Arthur B. Sustaita and Jesse Sustaita.
Ray was a man who truly lived for others. He had a heart of gold and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether through his community work, charitable giving, or simply showing up when it mattered most, Ray was often the first to volunteer and the last to leave. His generosity and kindness touched countless lives.
He was also known for bringing people together, especially around his grill. Ray was an incredible barbecuer, and his brisket and fajitas was something everyone looked forward to. He created not just meals, but memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. A proud and die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, he cheered on his team with unwavering loyalty and passion. He was also a devoted Houston Astros fan and made it a tradition to attend spring training every year alongside his No. 1 Primo, Michael Guerra; moments they both treasured.
Above all, Ray loved his family deeply. He was devoted not only to his children, but to his nieces and nephews as well, always making sure they were included in life’s adventures. Time spent with family meant everything to him, and those moments will be cherished forever.
He leaves behind a family who will forever hold him close in their hearts: his son, Ray A. Sustaita Jr. and wife Elizabeth; daughters, Chasity Ford and Jamie Sustaita and husband to be Damon; brothers, Rick Sustaita and wife Lisa, Joseph Sustaita and wife Sylvia, and Arthur Sustaita and wife Elizabeth; and his sister, Barbara and husband Frank Gomez.
Ray was a proud grandfather to Dominick, Daniel, Nicholas, Jewel, Isabella, Avril, Ray III, and Grayson, and a great-grandfather to Emily Rose.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
