Michael Dean Tooke

September 7, 1949 — September 2, 2024

Houston, Texas

Michael Dean Tooke (74) was born September 7, 1949, in Houston, Texas and passed away September 2, 2024, in Humble, Texas. He is preceded by his wife Penny Tooke of 37 years of marriage and his parents Roy Horace Tooke Jr & Jessie Mae Petty.

Michael (Mike) is survived by his sons Chris Tooke (wife Julie), Corey Tooke, brothers William Altman (wife Charlotte), Robert Tooke (wife Yvonne), Kenneth Tooke (wife Gretchen), sister Terry Odle (husband James), grandchildren Nadia Tooke, Cooper Tooke, and numerous nieces/nephews.

Mike was a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas. He went to work for Southwestern Bell right after graduation in 1968 and continued his career in communications with Inter-Tel until his retirement. Anyone who knew him knew he was an avid fisherman, but his love and passion were in music. From a very young age he played his guitar and sang. With good friends from the neighborhood, he started a garage band while in high school. As the band progressed with more friends, that were more like family, they performed at many clubs and parties throughout Houston together creating forever memories. Chip McDaniel, Charlie Calvin, and Coy Doyle and other great friends will remember those days. Many days he was the jokester in the family. Happy memories were made listening to his jokes or funny stories.

A special thank you from the family goes out to their friend and neighbor Cheryl Hudgeons. She has been their earthly angel for many years. There should be a special star in the sky just for her. Her selfless acts of kindness are too numerous to list. For months she personally cared for them and their pets. Even after Penny’s passing, she continued her friendship by adopting their cats.

A family memorial will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers the family ask you to please consider a donation to a local food bank or your favorite charity.
