Michael David Gordon

August 4, 1958 — January 7, 2026

Conroe

Michael David Gordon, age 67, was born on August 4, 1958, in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in Conroe, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon David Gordon and Juanita Curley.

Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Theresa Gordon; his son, Dustin Michael Gordon; his daughters, Michelle Collins (and husband Phillip Blake), Destiny Gordon, Tiffany Lubeck (and husband Stephen) — and his seven grandchildren: Kenley, Judah, Iylah, Emmett, Ezrah, Bear and Jane.

Mike was a proud military veteran of the United States Navy who began his service to his country in 1977 and was honorably discharged in 1982. He was a Radar Operation Specialist aboard the U.S.S. Davis DD-937 and his decorations include the Navy Expeditionary Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

It was during his military service afloat the Indian Ocean when Mike dedicated his life to Jesus Christ. He had struggled with finding his true purpose, and in desperation, asked God to reveal Himself through a crewmate that he had never spoken to. That exact sailor reached out and shared the gospel with him. On that very same day, his mother prayed for her son’s salvation and Mike accepted Jesus into his heart and began a new life devoted to God.

Mike was a studious academic whose achievements consisted of a Bachelor’s of Science in Missions from Southwestern Assemblies of God University, a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Trinity Theological Seminary, and became a certified public educator in the state of Texas, specializing in Social Studies.

Mike held a deep devotion to Christian ministry for over three decades. He began as a youth pastor in 1987 and served as senior pastor at several churches. Mike was also a theology professor at the Heartland School of Ministry. His biggest passion by far in his life was mentoring recently converted Christians and conducting small group Bible fellowships.

Mike’s education career also spanned teaching social studies to primary and secondary school students. He concluded his teaching career at Lifestyle Christian School, where he taught Bible classes and Social Studies. Mike retired in May of 2025.

Mike met his beloved wife, Theresa, in college during their education at SAGU in 1984. They were married together in 1985 on August 3rd, the day before his birthday. Mike was a vocally proud father of four, and grandfather of seven.

Mike’s favorite hobby was easily his role as the world’s most dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. His many other interests included fishing with his father, wrestling in high school, drawing still life, expanding his personal library, watching historical documentaries, and heavy involvement within his church community. He spent his final years writing a book intended for newfound Christians, which his family intends to complete and publish on his behalf.

Mike possessed a distinctly passionate personality. He was often serious and driven — but also had a whimsical and sarcastic side that he was never afraid to share. He worked hard whenever he put his mind to something, and instilled the same work ethic into his countless students that he taught.

Mike offered many life lessons to everyone he met. He encouraged every believer in his life to follow God with all of their heart. He had a passion for discipleship and sharing his testimony of transformation. His faith in God never wavered and kept him strong through all of life’s ups and downs.

Mike Gordon will undoubtedly be missed, cherished, and celebrated by every person who had the fortune of knowing him during his lifetime.
