It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Soto announces her passing on July 4, 2026, at the age of 84. Mary has gone to be with her lord and savior and passed away surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of her life will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Christ our Light Catholic Church in Navasota. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, July 9,2026 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Navasota with the rite of committal immediately following at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota.
Mary was born June 12, 1942, in Navasota, Texas to Jose and Victoria Garcia Aguilar. Mary graduated from Navasota High School and began her dream of adventure by setting out to live in Chicago, Illinois. Mary worked in business management in Chicago before deciding to move back home. While living in Navasota, Mary met her husband, Jesus Soto Sr.
Mary was a devoted member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church where she once served as a lector and eucharistic minister. After retiring from NOV Grant Prideco and the passing of her husband, Jesus, Mary decided that retirement was not for her and began working at Preferred Finance where she had made many friends with the community.
Mary is proceeded in death by her husband of 29 years, Jesus Soto Sr., her parent’s Jose and Victoria Garcia Aguilar, and brother’s Joe Aguilar Jr., Jessie Aguilar and John Aguilar all from Navasota.
Survivors include her son, Jesus Jr. and wife Casey Soto of Navasota, daughter’s; Jessica Soto of Dallas and Maria & husband Benny Trejo of Navasota. Her brother’s Tony Aguilar of Dallas, Julio Aguilar of Cleveland, and sister’s Tommie Cumpian of Navasota and Julia Aguirre of Los Angeles, California. Grandchildren Taylor & Leslee Soto, Jose Amaya, Anna Amaya and Lisa Amaya. Great-grandchildren, Bryson Webber, Gianni Amaya and Sylas Conely.
For those desiring, in lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Mary’s name may be made to Christ Our Light Catholic Church Choir or Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine.
