Margaret Jean Lively (82) was born March 13, 1943 in Las Vegas, Nevada and passed away June 7, 2025, in New Caney, Texas. She is preceded by her husband Anthony Scanlin, parents Travis William & Mary Theresa Lively, her brothers Thomas Adolphus Lively, Phillip Lively, sister Mary Esther Anderson, and brothers-in-law Marion Garland Harris, Michael Lambert and John Anderson.
Margaret is survived by her brothers John Paul Lively & wife Carol, Daniel James Lively, sisters Rebecca Lively Harris and Deborah Rachael Lambert. Numerous passed and present nieces & nephews, multiple great nieces & nephews, and nine stepchildren (Scanlin).
Margo was the life of the party, known for her entertaining spirit and infectious sense of humor. In the 1980s, she and her three sisters had the incredible opportunity to sing with the legendary Willie Nelson, a testament to her remarkable talent and love for music. A proud graduate of the University of Houston, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Music, which laid the foundation for her lifelong passion. As a dedicated orchestra teacher, she not only shared her love of music but also inspired her students to embrace their creativity and find joy in their own talents.
Above all, the love of her life was her family, which she cherished and took immense pride in. She was also a devoted dog lover, having welcomed multiple dogs into her life, each bringing their own joy and companionship. Whether performing, sharing laughter at local dinners and happy hours, or nurturing her loved ones and furry friends, her vibrant personality and unwavering enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
