Madeline Hayes Herron (74) was born March 11, 1950 in Carlsbad, New Mexico and passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024 in New Caney, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert & Faye Small Duddleston and her 48 fur babies who waited patiently for her at the Rainbow bridge: Spot, Garfield, Spooky, Bear, Muffy, L.C., Mama Cat, Smokey, Princess Di, Tiger, Dusty, Shadow, Golden Eyes, Papa Smurf, Murph, Pooh Bear, Boots, J.J., Chester, Kelly, Kong, Chuck, Peanut, Cricket, Tommy, Ink Spot, Cream Puff, Googles, Minnie, Grey Cat, Woody, Snoopy, Barrel, Sweat Pea, Boo, Mother Teresa, Fluffy, Bolt, George, Socks, Larry, Sheba, Sheba’s Daddy, Tigger, Piggy, Rocky, Buffy and Buddy.
She was known for her compassionate nature. Affectionately known as Mad, she adopted every stray animal that roamed Lone Pine in addition to feeding generations of wild trash pandas who went through 30lbs of cat food every week and never paid a dime in rent.
Mad also loved spending time in the yard nurturing her plants in the Texas heat. Oftentimes unsuccessful, but it didn’t stop her from caring for countless orchids and roses, which were her favorite.
Madeline is survived by her loving husband James Earl Herron of 55 years of marriage, son James Wesley Herron, daughter Laura Fay Herron, her sister Eliska Duddleston Morton, in addition to her 5 remaining fur babies: Abby, Sadie, Cheyenne, Vader and Toby.
