With heavy hearts, but a lifetime of beautiful memories, we announce the passing of our beloved Judy Kay Minick, who gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the age of 72, in Humble, Texas.
Judy was born on September 20, 1954, in Leeds, Alabama, to David H. and Vivian F. Byers. From the very beginning, Judy was a special soul, blessed with a heart full of love and a beautiful way of making everyone around her feel like family.
To know Judy was to love her. She loved fiercely, wholeheartedly, and without limits. Her love was the kind that made you feel safe, welcomed, and cherished. Whether you were family by blood or family by friendship, Judy had a way of making you feel that you belonged. Once you were loved by Judy, you were loved for life.
One of Judy’s greatest joys and proudest accomplishments was the beautiful life she built with her loving husband, Danny Minick. Together, they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage, a lifetime filled with love, laughter, memories, and devotion to one another. Their love was a beautiful example of what it means to stand beside someone through all of life’s seasons.
Above all else, Judy treasured her family. Being a wife, mother, and Nana was not simply a part of her life — it was the very heart of who she was. She was incredibly proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and nothing brought her more happiness than the people she loved most. Each one held a special place in her heart, and she made sure they knew just how deeply they were loved.
To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was more than just a grandmother. She was their beloved Nana, their biggest cheerleader, a source of endless love, and someone whose hugs, laughter, and precious memories will be treasured forever. Being Nana was one of her greatest blessings, and she truly was the Best Nana Ever.
Judy’s love reached far beyond her immediate family. She cherished her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends, both near and far. She had a heart big enough to love everyone and a special gift for turning friendships into family. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love touched so many lives, leaving memories that will never fade.
Judy was preceded in death by her loving parents, David H. and Vivian F. Byers; her brother, Roger Byers; her sisters, Jan DeLano and her husband, Harold, and Shelia Ashley and her husband, Ronnie.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 54 years, Danny Minick; her loving son, Jamie Minick and his wife, Chandra; her loving daughter, Melissa Gregg, and her husband, Mylo; her brothers, David H. Byers III and spouse Rody, Mike Byers and spouse Linda, and Ron Byers and spouse Karen; and her brother, Roger Byers and spouse Jane.
Her beautiful legacy of love lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Johnny Gregg, Gage Minick, Danny Gregg, Kaley Gregg, Miranda Minick, and Allie Minick; and her precious great-grandchildren, Maverick Vaughn and Mei Gregg, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Although our hearts are broken and life will never be quite the same without her, we find comfort in imagining the beautiful reunion that awaited Judy when she entered Heaven. We can picture her dancing among the angels, wrapped in the loving arms of her parents, reunited with her brothers, sisters, and so many other loved ones who welcomed her home.
While we wish we could have had just one more hug, one more conversation, and one more moment with her, we know that a love as beautiful as Judy’s never truly leaves us. It lives on in the stories we share, the memories we hold close, the laughter that reminds us of her, and the love she planted so deeply in each of our hearts. We will carry her with us in every family gathering, every special occasion, and every precious moment still to come.
Our sweet Judy, you were loved beyond words, and you will be missed beyond measure. Thank you for loving us so fiercely, for giving us so many beautiful memories, and for showing us what unconditional love truly looks like.
We know you will be watching over us, guiding us, and loving us from Heaven for the rest of our days.
Until we meet again, keep dancing in Heaven, our beautiful angel.
You may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Your love will be our forever blessing, and your memory will be our forever treasure.
We love you forever and always, our sweet Judy.
