Janice Thomas

Janice McNeal Thomas was the sixth child and beloved baby girl born to Isaiah McNeal and Odessa Goode on July 5, 1951, in Kaufman, Texas. A native of Rosser, Texas, Janice was educated locally and introduced to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age — a foundation that remained central throughout her life.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah McNeal and Odessa Goode, along with all of her siblings: Bennie Doris McNeal, Carl Allen McNeal, Baby Co-Co (who passed at 10 months), Willie "Bunch" McNeal, and Phillips (Phyllis) LaNoris McNeal Boyd.

Janice first met and married Joe Thomas Dawkins, and to this union, one child was born, Veronyka Dawkins. Later in life, she met and married Leslie Thomas, and together they had two children, Victor and Vaughn Thomas.

Affectionately known as "Jan" to those who loved her, she was recognized for her directness, joyous candor, unwavering love for her family, and her deep and abiding faith in the Lord. Nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren, and she would proudly share stories about them to anyone who would listen. Her face would light up whenever she spoke of them, always full of love and laughter.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

• Her children: Veronyka Dawkins of Austin, Texas; Victor Thomas and his wife Miranda Thomas of Conroe, Texas; Vaughn Thomas and his wife Kathy.
• Five grandchildren (Keigan, Keiandre, Jalen, Daisia, and Amelia) and four great-grandchildren.
• Her special niece and "daughter," Nicole L. Boyd of Dallas, Texas.
• Her dear friends, Gladys, Cynthia, Martha, Michael, and Wanda
• Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
