Dad was a hard-working and dedicated man who loved, agriculture, history, sports, gambling and traveling. He spent most of his adolescent years working as a migrant worker along with his family where they traveled to numerous states. During his younger years, he then worked as a driver for the agriculture and construction industry, where he was known for keeping his vehicles the tidiest giving him the nickname “El Maestro”. It was during a trip to La Venadera while visiting family and attending a Baile, where he met the love of his life, our mom. And that’s where their story began. Married in 1965, they then started their lives in the US becoming parents in 1967 and settling in Florida in 1972. Fast forward 20 years, Hurricane Andrew nudged them to become Texans where he became a school landscaper for the Aldine School District retiring in 2005. The last 20 years of his life, he spent happily traveling back and forth to their home in La Venadera, Mexico.
Though Dad may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of small patients, stubbornness and little words, but knew how to express his love with actions. When he set his mind up on an idea, you’d better be ready to make it happen or you’d never here the end of it. And always taking the opportunity to take a twirl on the dance floor with his daughters and nieces or whoever would be lucky to take his step. Those who knew him, understood his quiet and direct yet silly character, and loved him through it all.
We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
