Esther Ruth Brewer

Esther Ruth Brewer went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a life devoted to faith, family, and service.

Born in Ohio, Esther met the love of her life, John Brewer, at age 18 while attending John Brown University in Arkansas. What began as a drive-in movie double date became a lifelong marriage centered on Christ, ministry, and family.

Esther faithfully served as a wife, mother, teacher, homemaker, friend, missionary, and grandmother. Known lovingly as “Nana,” she was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, helping care for them and faithfully teaching them the Bible for many years.

She will be remembered for her servant’s heart, strong faith, wisdom, hospitality, and unwavering devotion to her family. Even during the final 20 months following her diagnosis, Esther continued to trust God with courage and peace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna Buell, and brother, Warren Buell.

She is survived by her devoted husband, John Brewer; daughters, Beth Shields and Sarah Crawford (spouse-Brett); son, Mark Brewer; grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew Shields, Kaedence and Savannah Henley, and Lillian and Maverick Crawford; and sisters, Eliz Motts and Ginny Roseberry (spouse-Ray).

Though deeply missed, her family rejoices knowing Esther is now in the presence of her Savior.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
