David Champion Whitehead, 46, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 21, 2026. He was born May 24, 1980, to Sharon and David Whitehead, who had already been called home to Heaven and were waiting to welcome their son.
David was a country boy through and through. He loved his job at Marsha Petting Zoo, where his care for God’s creatures and his kindness toward others reflected a heart that knew how to love well.
He is survived by his three sons, Dawson (Alyssa), Ashton (Dameris), and Gage; his two grandchildren, Deliliah and Kai; his siters, Lisa and her fiancé, Larry Spell, and Madely; his brother, Raymon Meador (Kathy); his nieces, Michaela Ordaz (Vicente), Aspen (Chris), and Hailey; his nephew, Matthew Weeks (Hannah); and other family and friends.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice that David is free from this world and forever in the presence of Jesus – reunited with his parents and held in the arms of the One who never left him. We find comfort in the promise of Heaven and the hope of seeing him again.
“In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
-John 14:2
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
-2 Corinthians 5:8
His favorite verse was John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
