Uncle Rooster as he was called by us kids (not sure why) will be missed. One of my fondest memories of him was from when I was a little girl. Every holiday I remember looking forward to going to Grandma & Grandpa's in the country. I always knew that when we got there if nobody else would play with me my Uncle Rooster would. He would get on his hands an knees and let me ride around on his back like he was a horse, and yes he would try to buck me off. It's a memory that I will forever have and cherish.

Well brother, all has come to an end. It was a nice service I thought. The Flower Sprays that Kelly had done for you were amazing. You would have really liked them. Everyone turned out. A few spoke and others would have but weren't able to. I did the best I could to speak on your behalf. I hope it was good enough. People said very kind words in your memory. I guess I just wanted to fill you in. I know you were there but I just wanted you to know that people cared. We all loved you and had our own special memories. Thanks for being my brother and for being there whenever I needed you. I tried my best to repay the favor in my older years. I hope I did ok by you. Please tell mom and dad that we all love them and think of them often. Tell Jesus hello from me. As far as I'm able to tell, this is the hardest part of growing older. Letting your loved ones go. I understand that it's a part of life and the circle of life. But it's still not easy. I know your no longer in pain. You can fish or hunt anywhere in the world you want now. Just know that we will think of you often, we will miss you always. I guess I have waited to write this because it seems that it makes it final. I guess it does. We will continue with our lives, we will recall the good times with you, and we will never forget you. Until we meet again brother. You enjoy your new found life with no pain or suffering and sickness. We all will meet again one day brother. Until then we.will hold you close to our hearts. Love you always brother. See you on the other side.

Love Always Your Brother

Donnie G Smelley
