Catherine "Cathy" Marie Collins, a devoted wife, mother, nanny, and nurse, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026.

Cathy was born on October 10, 1948, in Marfa, Texas, to her loving parents, Bud (Otto E.) and Pauline Morris Everett. Growing up as the second oldest of seven children, she learned early on the value of family, a bond she carried with her throughout her entire life.

While working as a waitress at Taylor’s Café in Fort Stockton, Cathy met the absolute love of her life, Harry H. Collins Jr. The two were married on July 6, 1968, beginning a beautiful marriage that would last a lifetime. Together, they raised two children, Luke and Cary.

Once her children were in school, Cathy pursued her true calling: nursing. She began her journey in the LVN program, caring for her patients drove her to continue her education. In 1993, she achieved a major milestone by earning her associate degree and her Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Over her career, Cathy touched countless lives across several areas of medicine. She worked at Pecos County Memorial Hospital, Midland Memorial on the medical-surgical floor, in home health, and as an agency nurse. Passing her passion on to the next generation, she also served as a nursing instructor for Midland College’s LVN program. While she enjoyed teaching immensely, her greatest joy always came from the hands-on care and comfort she provided to her patients.

Outside of her career, Cathy found beauty and peace in the simple things. She loved gardening, needle point, and creating a warm, beautiful home to share with Harry and their family. Life became even sweeter with the arrival of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she thoroughly embraced her cherished role as "Nanny."

Family

Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry Collins, parents, Bud and Pauline Everett; her siblings, Ray Everett and Lacy Everett; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Abe and Martha Collins, Melvin and Jo Reynolds, Grace Greenwood, Ray and Francis Mincey, Dennis M. Collins and Mark Kring.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by:

Her life was one of service, love, and quiet strength, and she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
